Elon Musk waited less than a day to pounce on Apple’s OpenAI lawsuit
Elon Musk, who lost his own lawsuit against OpenAI in May, publicly reacted to Apple's new trade secret case against the company within a day of its filing.
Apple filed its trade secret lawsuit against OpenAI on Friday, July 10, accusing the ChatGPT-maker of stealing confidential hardware information through former Apple employees, including chief hardware officer Tang Tan and engineer Chang Liu. Altman responded directly to Musk’s posts, writing: ‘homeboy you’re the one selling public market investors on short-term space datacenters,’ a post that drew over 10 million views. When a supporter said Altman ‘wasn’t afraid of Elon but he is terrified of Apple,’ Altman replied: ‘i am not afraid of apple, but i have tremendous respect for them. s-tier company.’
OpenAI has denied Apple’s underlying allegations. Spokesperson Drew Pusateri said: ‘We have no interest in other companies’ trade secrets. We remain focused on building innovative technology that empowers people everywhere.’
