Rajasthan Families Facing Medical Emergencies Can Claim Up To ₹1.5 Lakh: Here’s Who Qualifies

Rajasthan families struggling to pay for hospital treatment can apply for financial help of up to ₹1.5 lakh through the state’s Chief Minister’s Relief Fund – Medical Help scheme, which has been running since April 1999. The scheme is aimed at people who don’t already have coverage through other government health insurance and need help covering the cost of treatment at recognised hospitals.

Under the scheme, the state government reimburses up to 40 percent of treatment costs, capped at ₹1.5 lakh, for care received at government hospitals, and up to 30 percent, capped at ₹90,000, for care at recognised private hospitals – whichever amount is lower. Payments are made either as a demand draft or through direct bank transfer to the beneficiary, or sent directly to the hospital where treatment was received. The fund also covers cochlear implant surgery for deaf and speech-impaired children up to age 6 whose family income doesn’t exceed ₹2 lakh a year, financial assistance for Thalassemia Major treatment, and support for patients being treated for cancer, kidney and urinary conditions, and heart disease.

To qualify, applicants must not belong to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category, and their family’s annual income must be more than ₹2 lakh. Applicants also cannot be enrolled under the Ayushman Bharat Mahatma Gandhi Rajasthan Swasthya Bima Yojana (ABMGRSBY), the state’s separate health insurance scheme for BPL and other eligible families, since that scheme already covers hospitalisation costs for its beneficiaries.

Applications can be submitted either online or offline. To apply online, applicants need to visit the official Chief Minister Relief Fund Rajasthan website, select the ‘Apply for Medical Help’ option on the homepage, and choose ‘Apply Online’ on the page that follows. The form asks for personal details, contact information, the medical condition being treated, and the treatment required, along with supporting documents such as medical certificates, doctor’s reports and hospital bills. Once submitted, applicants receive an acknowledgment number that can be used to track the status of the application. Those who prefer to apply offline can download the application form from the same website and submit it, along with the required documents, at the Chief Minister Relief Fund office.

Applicants will need to submit an income certificate, address proof, a ration card, a treatment cost estimate prepared by a doctor, and a medical certificate to be considered for assistance. The scheme is administered by the Government of Rajasthan under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
