A Hyderabad company that makes water out of thin air just landed a Dubai investor
Maithri Aquatech, which builds atmospheric water generators branded 'Meghdoot', has secured a 14% equity investment from Dubai's DP World.
A Hyderabad-based company that builds machines capable of pulling drinking water out of the air has attracted a strategic investor from Dubai. DP World, the global logistics and supply chain operator, has picked up a 14% stake in Maithri Aquatech Private Limited for an undisclosed sum.
Maithri Aquatech’s technology, branded ‘Meghdoot’, generates potable water from atmospheric humidity, reducing dependence on conventional water sources and infrastructure. The company said the investment will help it pilot these systems in real-world operating environments across varied geographies, including logistics and industrial settings.
Ramkrishna Mukkavilli, founder and managing director of Maithri Aquatech, framed the deal in terms of a shared priority between the two companies. “The strategic investment of DP World reflects a shared belief that water security is not a peripheral challenge — it is central to the resilience of global trade, communities and ecosystems,” he said.
Maithri’s headquarters, production and R&D operations are all based in Hyderabad, and the deal is being seen as another example of growing India-UAE collaboration in sustainability, trade and innovation.
