‘A new shape unfolds’: Samsung teases major foldable redesign for July 22

Samsung’s official invite for its Galaxy Unpacked event on 22 July carries the tagline “A new shape unfolds,” hinting at a foldable smartphone with a passport-style design, a departure from the taller stance of previous models.

The event, to be held in London, will be streamed live on Samsung.com, Samsung Newsroom and Samsung’s YouTube channel at 6:30 pm IST. Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8 and a new Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which would mark the company’s most ambitious foldable yet, positioned above the standard Fold much like the Galaxy S Ultra sits above the rest of the S line.

Leaks point to display technology aimed at reducing the crease that has long affected foldable screens, along with a triple rear camera setup and faster charging on the Ultra model. The standard Fold 8 and Flip 8 are expected to get lighter builds, thinner hinges and AI-driven multitasking features.

Samsung has also opened pre-reservations in India for a refundable Rs 999, with early customers set to receive benefits worth Rs 2,799 on purchase. The company is expected to also unveil the Galaxy Watch 9, Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and its Android XR smart glasses at the same event.
